gather ye rosebuds

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying:
And this same flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow will be dying.
that's the poem of Robert Herrick (1591-1674) which is used in one of my favorite movies: "Dead Poets Society". every time i watch it, the movie never fails to remind me of how important it is to seize every opportunity and to make use of the time that i have. "Carpe Diem", as i perceived the message of the movie is, still lingering in my mind now and then and it's a reminder for me not to procrastinate, to live life to the fullest.
there are times when the thought of living life to the fullest seems very remote, but then again when i'm reminded, it gives me a kind of excitement, joy and a don't-want-to-be-beaten spirit that keeps me going and strifing for the things that i believe really matter in my life.
and there is this sentimental and artistic part of me that is captivated every time i watch the movie. the beauty of the poetry somehow makes my heart alive and full of passion. as the character John Keating in the movie said: we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. i do wish i could write beautiful poetry. i seldom write now, but hopefully through this blog i can write better, with passion.
