wuhan

been in the city for 2 days now, and explored mainly the city center of hankou. i’m using a computer at an internet cafe near the hotel where i’m staying.
the journey to wuhan was quite tiring especially the journey from guangzhou to hankou by train. had to wait at the guangzhou train station for few hours and they only give me few minutes to dash from the waiting from to the train platform to board the train. not too bad… just that it’ll be much easier if i don’t have to carry heavy luggage.
my travel partners in the train were quite helpful too, met a hongkong guy who used to study in wuhan and were going there to meet up with friends. there’s also this wuhan girl who is quite friendly too.
i slept in the train quite early that night but woke up very early too. reached hankou station at about 6 o’clock and the weather were just nice. outside the train there are so many taxi driver offering their services, which i declined. bought a map of wuhan which proved to be very useful. as it was still very early in the morning, i decided to walk from the train station to the hotel. was quite a distance, but i enjoy the walk as i can observe some daily lives of the people in wuhan. somehow the situation was quite familiar to me as it reminds me of the situation in indonesia.
on the way to the hotel i also managed to try the local dish “re gan mian” and a snack which i don’t know the name. i found the city to be very well developed. i had to get used to the traffic system which is quite new to me because in china people drive on the right side of the road. crossing the road however was quite easy and even there’s traffic light governing pedestrians, people doesn’t seem to follow it. so i just have to watch out for vehicles.
to be continued …
